“I had to realize, or maybe admit, that I was an odd duck.
I loved both football and Manolo Blahnik.”
We move forward. We look around. We realize, that despite the craziness of waking up, there are moments to capture.
Wonderful things to look at. So let’s do another year, step out and see what’s ahead. Lovely and real. Colored and colorless.
Rightfully there in front of us. We are engaged as we engage others. A camera as détente.
And for the record, this is some of what we did last year.

Still Life. Sooner or later it’s all about loss.
Still Life Petals - It was a dead of night, so she didn’t hear the phone ring so she didn’t get the message till the next morning after she made coffee and woke up to the world. It was sunny out and it was the day when all the beautiful things died in front of her.
SELF PORTRAIT. Somewhere up the shore, the fields were empty, the leaves had fallen and the house was long abandoned. It felt like winter.
“Life is amazing. And then it’s awful. And then it’s amazing again. And in between the amazing and awful it’s ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.” L.R. Knost

I WAS THINKING of the simple shapes of things I’ve run across - this seaweed something I picked up off the beach and decided I should carry home. Can we give life to something long past living? Did you wash up so I would find you? To move me? To challenge what senses I have left, to let me know there is more? There is always more. There have been notes of sadness lately, friends have passed unexpectedly. I will pay tribute as I know how. I will bring light to things around me, to this good life. (from instagram post)
Still Life, beets and a book. It takes a long time to realize who you are.
